Impending doom
In a little over an hour from now, I will know whether or not I am a chartered accountant.
The probabilities point strongly towards this not being the case.
“When you’re sitting in the exam,” said the tutor at college in November, “think to yourself; ‘What is the worst thing which could happen?’
The worst thing which could happen is that you could fail the exam.
What is the worst thing that could happen if you fail the exam?
The worst thing which could happen if you fail the exam is that you will lose your job.
What is the worst thing which could happen if you lose your job?
The worst thing which could happen if you lose your job is that you won’t become a chartered accountant.
Ask yourself; could you live without being a chartered accountant?
Quite happily.
Then there is no need to panic.”
Wise words. And yet the fact that this could be my last hour of chartered accountantness feels somewhat weird. I will miss the money, and the laptop.
